Pro-choice activist Naomi Wolf in The Times (London) on the forthcoming documentary My Foetus.
Any woman who has had an abortion will tell you that she never expected it to have as profound an effect on her as it did. Hundreds of pro-abortion women have contacted me over the years. Almost all say that terminating their pregnancy was the right decision for them. But almost all also say that they still mourn the lost baby; that they think about it often; that they were unprepared — by the casualness with which a secular society treats the issue — for the depth of their feeling about the procedure; and that of all the things they have done in their lives, becoming pregnant at a time when they had to abort was the one thing they wish they could undo.
Interestingly, I have heard just as much unanticipated regret and mourning for the terminated pregnancy from men.
