I picked my son up from sports practice at 6 pm after sleeping the day away being sick the past 2 days with inner ear infection/migraine/acute sinusitis and a near trip to the ER it hurt so bad. He looked at me in surprise and said, "You're happy?" I said, "Yes! I feel better than yesterday and I slept all day."
Then I looked back at him, frightened and said, "Why? What happened?"
He said, "Terri Schiavo died today. We heard about it in period B and the teacher stopped class and we prayed for her."
And I slept the day away.
The tears--and the anger--will come now.
Rest in peace, Terri. Prayers for you, from all of us who fought for your right to live. You will not have to be tormented any longer, and I believe you will by now have been borne on angel's wings to our Father in heaven. May your unjust death be not for naught, in helping to change the laws of this jaded, barbaric land we call "home" so that this can never happen again to another person.
