65 Girls at Area School Pregnant:

CANTON, Ohio -- There are 490 female students at Timken High School, and 65 are pregnant, according to a recent report in the Canton Repository.
The article goes on to say that school officials have "no idea" what could be causing these pregnancies. If you hang around in the blogosphere, you'll find lots of people laughing at those school officials today.

I have a different take. I think what the school officials meant to say is, "We have no idea why these girls are carrying these pregnancies to term."

But perhaps I am overly influenced by a conversation I had with a woman in ministry recently. She went to a small high school--her graduating class of seniors had just 65 students. It was a cause of local celebration, and class pride, that there were no pregnancies in that class. But, of course, actually there were least five that she knows of, including her own...followed by abortions.
