While we're "out," there are many items worth knowing at Prolifeblogs so please check them daily, if not a couple times daily...
According to data posted on its web site, Planned Parenthood admits to committing 255,015 abortions in 2004. That is the highest number of abortions Planned Parenthood has ever committed in a single year. This figure is 4.2 percent higher than 2003. Some 100,000 more abortions were performed this year than were performed just eight years ago.

A review of Planned Parenthood's data reveals that it operates a chain [guess they took The Raving Atheist's barb to heart?] of 172 surgical abortion facilities across the country and has at least another 50 facilities that end the lives of babies...
And they said providing more Morning After Pills than the 633,756 such packs they sold in 2002 would decrease the number of abortions.

And we belieeeeeved them.

More fun facts:
  1. "Elected officials gave PPFA a record $265.2 million, nearly 33% of its $810 million total income."
  2. "For the 18th year in a row, Planned Parenthood turned a net profit. This year's $35.2 million brings its total profits over the 18 years to $538 million."
  3. "Private donations to Planned Parenthood declined for the second time in three years, as contributions and bequests dropped 17% to $191 million, and the income of its national headquarters dropped by 19.8%."
So private citizens are wising up, but elected politicians are getting stupider. (Seems like a trend, n'est-ce pas?)

And with 18-year total profits of $538 million, they've "gotta protect [their] phoney-baloney jobs!" (HT to Mel Brooks as Gov. Le Petomane in one of my all-time favorite comedies "Blazing Saddles") As commenter C.J. clued us in here on Dawn Eden's Dawn Patrol blog:
Planned Parenthood alone paid Dr. [Vanessa "Yes, it's safe, it's very safe, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it!"] Cullins $230K+ in its 2003-2004 fiscal year ... [Now what movie is that quote from?] Gloria Feldt picked up $400K+ in her final full year as president of the organization: http://www.guidestar.org/index.jsp

For its 2003-2004 fiscal year, Planned Parenthood made an estimated $104 million from surgical abortions (one-third of total clinic income). http://www.all.org/stopp/st041215.htm.

Planned Parenthood paid one telemarketing consultant alone more than $3 million in the same year, one of 73 independent contractors paid $50K or more for various services.

The point? Planned Parenthood is a business. A big one. "Non-profit" does not mean impoverished. At least, not financially.
And speaking of "chains," Raving Atheist rattles some good ones here. And before you reach any conclusions about our good friend RA, read how he's been sliced and diced just as we have been at times.

RA, can't find your "Planned Parenthood- The Chain" cartoon link. Please help me out!
