Connecticut Women Participate in Campaign Addressing the Reality of Abortion

Hartford, CT – Breaking the silence that surrounds the personal experience of abortion, women from Connecticut will tell their stories on January 22th, between 1-2 pm at the Hartford Capitol, Room 310, in downtown Hartford. The Hartford event is one of 20 happening throughout America and in Washington D.C. in January as part of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, which is co-sponsored by NOEL and Priests for Life.

"The real experience of abortion is quite different than the rhetoric we’ve heard for 33 years," said Rachel Torres O’Leary, event speaker. "Our voices have been locked in silence due to pain, shame, and fear of judgment. But now it’s time for us to be silent no more about the real problems we’ve dealt with after having abortions."

Silent No More Awareness is a nationwide campaign making the public aware of the devastation abortion brings to women and men. The campaign seeks to expose and heal the secrecy surrounding the emotional and physical pain of abortion. Since officially launching the campaign in January 2003, 3,123 people have registered as active members online, 110 gatherings have occurred in 3 countries and 44 states with 1,682 participants sharing their testimonies, and more than 5,000 spectators have heard the message.
