Terri Schindler-Schiavo posts

Friend Achromic brings up a good point, in comments to Megan's post, asking why some pro-life folks seem to care more about the unborn babies than about the disabled.

I gently made the point that we here certainly don't think the disabled aren't as much an "emergency" needing vocal support as the unborn. We were rather vocal about our support for Terri's fight for life.

It seemed like a decent idea, then, to post--in one round-up place--the links to the 21 posts we did expressing our upset over Terri Schiavo's plight here at After Abortion, plus a few select other sources of links, including Blogs For Terri, of which After Abortion and Purposeful Dreamer are still members.

Blogs For Terri is still very much active, and worth revisiting, especially as there may be a Terri-in-reverse, in Scott Thomas. I'm still perusing, so I don't know all the facts, but perhaps it's worth a visit on all our parts. And a prayer for those still suffering similar fates as Terri, or in danger thereof.

AfterAbortion at the time had all BlogsForTerri members listed on the sidebar; you can still see/link to all the members at BfT. I still have a list of links under EUTHANASIA on my personal,"overflow" blog, Purposeful Dreamer.

Back then, we posted how Terri was going to (and then did) starve to death, thanks to Fr. Rob Johansen's research at Thrown Back blog.

I did these 14 posts:

Other links in comments included:
The oft-cited GAL report, which was cited by a commenter as "proof" that "these claims [of spousal abuse] have been adjudicated." However, page 11 refers to a prior GAL's report of March 1, 1994, which this PDF file DOES NOT INCLUDE. We have nothing from this citation that says whether or not the GAL, in either 1994 or in 2003, reviewed such evidence as the bone scan of her condition when she was first admitted to hospital care following her collapse, or anything for that matter. Further, page 23 of the above PDF report says,
If persons unable to speak for themselves have decisions made on their behalf by guardians or family members, the potential for abuse, barring clear protections, could lead to a ‘slippery slope’ of actions to terminated the lives of disabled and incompetent persons. And it is not difficult to imagine bad decisions being made in order to make life easier for a family or to avoid spending funds remaining in the estate on the maintenance of a person.
EXACTLY what we feared had happened. That meant that, as of 2003, it hadn't been eliminated as a possibility!

This GAL report also shows that Terri received physical and speech therapy for only "more than three years": the first three out of the total 15.

This report also says,
While no formal proof emerged, the medical records note that the combination of aggressive weight loss, diet control and excessive hydration raised questions about Theresa suffereing from Bulimia, an eating disorder, more common among women than men, in which purging through vomiting, laxatives and other methods of diet control becomes obsessive.
Emphasis this author's. The lack of formal, definitive proof became, in the pens of the mass media, just the opposite.
