OOSNM's Baby Shoes Memorial at Creation Festival 2004
The word from my counterpart Maureen at OOSNM-Pennsylvania:
"Karen B.(OOSNM-PA) and I were very blessed to be able to attend Creation Festival East this year. It was an awesome experience. We try to help these young girls and guys to understand that abortion is wrong and that we are saving them from a life of pain. The pain in my heart increases every time I pray for these babies, every time I share my story, and every time I listen to the stories from so many people.
"We heard so many stories. We saw so many teens. We talked to so many men. I figured we talked to about 1,000 people. For every Friend of the Court (FOC) form, there were about 4 or 5 people standing in the background, not sure about what we were doing. Some of them came back the next day.
"I just read the prayer request that Karen B had sent out before we left. Every single prayer request was answered in one way or another. We met women from a few states who are very interested in OOSNM. And we made a special contact with a Rock for Life booth, that may open the door for speaking engagements to thousands of young adults. Praise the Lord; He blessed the work that we did and brought many people who will go to Him for healing.
"I could go on and on about this trip. It was all in God's timing for the days and the times. Things are moving swiftly and I pray for all of the women of OOSNM to be in prayer and to be ready at a moment's notice for when the Lord needs you.
"We met so many who did not know about Norma McCorvey [the former "Jane Roe" of Roe v. Wade]. We educated so many people about her this weekend. The young adults were going and getting their friends to come back to our table to see the baby shoes we had displayed. The shoes made it so real for them. Some women even named their babies. Some had never been asked that before and they began to weep. Girls told me that their mother was going to abort them, but changed her mind the day before. Others told me that their mother had aborted their sister or brother. These young adults are so passionate. We need to continue to reach out to them and educate them. And to help them understand to be loving and forgiving to their post abortive friends.....Maureen (OOSNM PA)"
Creation Festival is an enormous, open-air, weekend, Christian rock music festival held on both sides of the country each June, featuring favorite bands such as Pillar, Thousand Foot Krutch, TobyMac, KJ-52, John Reuben and Kutless. It’s Woodstock minus the drugs, booze, sex, trash, crime and pollution and plus the praise and worship of God and His Son Jesus Christ. Mostly for teens and their families, but many young adults attend too, of all Christian denominations. If I’d known these ladies were going, I’d have gone too to help and to bring my son who’s been dying to see his favorite bands live.
PS: Karen B. says, "You can keep collecting baby names because there have been requests to display the shoes at other locations. So contact me if you missed the earlier "deadline" and would still like to memorialize your baby lost to abortion. Your name and contact info will never be made available to the organizers or anyone else.
