It's good to confront openly the shame, loss.

An excerpt from a letter in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in reference to the "I Had An Abortion" t-shirts:

I've had an abortion. I appreciate that Planned Parenthood, as one of its representatives said in the Aug. 3 article, wants these T-shirts to "confront and subvert the sense of shame" experienced by many women who have had abortions.

My own sense of shame about my abortion was not because of the secrecy that so often surrounds abortion, or because of the judgment of others - although the judgment of others can be ferocious. My sense of shame came about as I gradually came to realize that when I had an abortion, I violated my own core beliefs about protecting innocent human life.
