The new sibling blog, Abortion Pundit, has just been "disabled" by Blogger. Readers can still read it; I'm just prohibited from accessing its dashboard and making changes or new posts. This is the message:
If your blog is disabled, it will be listed on your Dashboard, but you will not be able to click on it to access it. If this is the case, there will be a grace period during which you can request that it be reviewed and recovered. The disabling is a result of our automated classification system marking it as spam. Because this system is automated there will necessarily be some false positives, though we're continually working on improving our algorithms to avoid these. If your blog is not a spam blog, then it was one of the false positives, and we apologize. If this is the case, please write to Blogger Support and we will manually review and restore your blog. Be sure to give us the URL (address) of the affected blog.I just wrote Blogger to complain. One of the ways a blog can be targeted for disabling is via the "The Flag as Objectionable button in the Navbar" which "lets you notify us of problem blogs that you find, so we can review them and take appropriate action."
Wouldn't that be a hoot, if one of the ever-lurking troublemakers that sometimes try to hit us with spam and virus-laden emails hit the "flag as objectionable" button on the blog just to cause us this trouble?
This kind of juvenile behavior happens to pro-life or conservative books on Amazon.com all the time, when people put in bad reviews.
If so, these geniuses did so in violation of Blogger's rules for truly objectionable content. As Blogger emphasizes, we have every right to not be censored or "manipulated" by those angry that this new blog exists. If someone hit that button, or several someones, then it was strictly a political attack and they did it because they personally find it "offensive" that we are living examples of the harm that abortion has done to women, and that we reach out to help others like us. We are clearly doing nothing illegal.
Oh, I will have such a laugh if that is what happened!
I will keep you all posted. If in fact it turns out we've been targeted by such folk, we'll be sure to let you know how you, our 500 readers or so, can contact Blogger to let them know they've made a serious mistake in disabling the sibling blog, Abortion Pundit.
