The Fourth Day of Christmas
December 28 remembers the Holy Innocents. Matthew's Gospel reports how King Herod, out of jealousy of this new-born king, "ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under." Having been warned in a dream, Joseph took Mary and the baby Jesus and fled to Egypt. Jesus escaped the wrath of Herod, but those little ones became the victims of Herod' insane fear. Our friend Theresa at Lumina has a great post today with a painting depicting "The Triumph of the Holy Innocents".~ Fr.
