The Fourth Day of Christmas

December 28 remembers the Holy Innocents. Matthew's Gospel reports how King Herod, out of jealousy of this new-born king, "ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under." Having been warned in a dream, Joseph took Mary and the baby Jesus and fled to Egypt. Jesus escaped the wrath of Herod, but those little ones became the victims of Herod' insane fear.

~ Fr. Kevin Forsyth

Our friend Theresa at Lumina has a great post today with a painting depicting "The Triumph of the Holy Innocents".
